SUMMARY REMARKS & TESTBEDS
We want to design and implement a framework based on Software-Defined Network (SDN) idea to program and control our robots through unified commands and communications using the OpenFlow protocol, into service processes. Therefore, configurations and control commands would be sent to a specific robot, a group of robots, or all of them through the network.
Now, by deploying it on a server on the Internet, it is possible to replace the CsPro OS and all the configuration and control software now embedded in each robot with a cloud-based approach. Each robot would have its own buffer to receive the instructions from the cloud server through the OpenFlow protocol and then convert them to their equivalent commands, which allow us to have different types of robots, not just our own. This approach will allow us to separate software and hardware components, thereby reducing costs, shortening computational time, and upgrading and creating new software solutions without interfering with the robot’s hardware.
