BASIC INFORMATION
Short name: ULYSSES
Long name: UtiLitY-based Slice SElection for video Streaming
Company: HYPERTECH S.A.
Country: Greece
Call Stage 1: F4Fp-SME-COD201103 (see call details)
Proposal number: F4Fp-SME-COD201103-02
SUMMARY REMARKS & TESTBEDS
ULYSSES’s main focus will be the development, integration and performance evaluation of a slice selection mechanism for network slices serving a video streaming service based on a utility function framework capable of incorporating user satisfaction (via QoE), network state via (QoS) and other policies, e.g., related to pricing.
The ultimate goal of ULYSSES is to eventually develop and test a utility-based dynamic slice dimensioning framework for video streaming services in modern networks, by taking an incremental realistic approach. We will first demonstrate the operation of a precursor utility-based slice selection approach (Phase 1), while identifying the hidden technological burdens that need to be overcome towards extending it to a feasible and efficient slice dimensioning approach (Phase 2).
In addition to the scientific and technological impact, ULYSSES aspires to provide various types of feedback to Fed4FIRE+, enhancing its functionality, while increasing its visibility, synergies and potential.
