Fed4FIRE+ is eager to join the ITU-T Focus Group on Testbeds Federations for IMT-2020 and beyond (FG-TBFxG) kick-off on April 4 – 7, 2022 (event details here). In this article, you can find more about the Focus Group’s objectives and how you can contribute to its work.

About the ITU-T Focus Group

The creation of the FG-TBFxG follows the outcomes of the joint ITU-IEEE-ETSI workshop and the relevant contributions received to SG11 meeting and outcomes of SG11 discussion in December 2021 (more here). The ITU Focus Group aims at engaging and bringing all relevant stakeholders together. It will stimulate the creation of standards and APIs for the associated ecosystem on Testbeds Federations for 5G and Beyond – including “Testbed as Service concept”, Business Models and Monetization potential for Testbeds. There are several APIs already developed by some SDOs/Fora and they may be applicable to the area of Federated Testbeds. Therefore, the Focus Group is the right instrument to facilitate the discussions by the various SDOs/Fora and other Stakeholders on how to exploit relevant APIs in the new area of Standardized Testbeds Federations Frameworks.

Your Contribution to the ITU-T Focus Group

Seen the broad interest in Testbed Federations, all relevant contributors are invited to take part in the work of the Focus Group by sharing relevant Use Cases and APIs implementations that may be relevant to Testbeds Services Automation and Federations.

The Focus Group will start with the introduction session about the standardization activities on testbed federations across different ICT technologies and entities. This slot will give the opportunity to SDOs/Fora and Open Source/Hardware projects to briefly present their work, providing an overview of how Testbeds Federations benefit their work, whether they are working on Testbeds of relevance to 5G & Beyond, whether they may have developed APIs that the Focus Group FG-TBFxG could study to see on how such APIs can be exploited to this new ecosystem of Federated Testbeds for 5G and Beyond. Therefore, representatives of the interested entities are encouraged to attend the event and share information about their activities.

All proposals and contributions need to be sent to ITU/TSB FG Secretariat (tsbfgtbf@itu.int) by 28 March 2022 at the latest.

The participation in the FG-TBFxG activities and in its first meeting is free and open to any individual from a country that is a member of ITU and who is willing to contribute actively to the work of the Focus Group. This includes individuals who are also members of international, regional and national organizations.

All relevant information, contribution templates and registration links are available on the ITU-T Focus Group website: https://www.itu.int/en/ITU-T/focusgroups/tbfxg/Pages/default.aspx
