Abstract
In this paper, we present our research on management and orchestration of network services and resources within Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC)-backed vehicular communications. The focus of this paper is on inspecting the impact that the Virtualized Infrastructure Manager (VIM) has on the performance of the whole Management and Orchestration (MANO) system. The experiment included on-demand service instantiation and termination on top of the Virtual Wall testbed, and the public cloud Amazon Web Services (AWS). Both vehicular service instantiation and termination are performed under the guidance of MANO tools that run on top of Virtual Wall, orchestrating resources and services on both Virtual Wall and AWS cloud. Such performance analysis with a strong experimental component can serve as a baseline for researchers and industry towards exploiting the opportunities that existing MANO solutions provide.
